Corrections Policy
Our commitment to historical accuracy, peer accountability, and transparent correction of mountaineering records.
1. Dedication to Factual Integrity
Mountaineering records often involve conflicting testimonies, shifting international borders, and evolving cartographic elevation surveys. When factual errors, misspelled names of climbers or porters, erroneous ascent dates, or inaccurate route descriptions appear on Mountanity, our policy is to investigate and correct them promptly and transparently.
2. Submitting a Correction
If you discover an inaccuracy on Mountanity, please contact our research desk at [email protected] with:
- The exact URL of the affected mountain, expedition, or story record.
- The specific claim or date believed to be in error.
- Authoritative citations or primary sources (such as national alpine club journals, Himalayan database logs, or official topographic survey maps) supporting the proposed correction.
3. Archival Transparency
Substantive corrections to published stories or historical profiles will be accompanied by an explicit editorial note stating the nature of the change and the date updated. Minor typographical adjustments are made directly without changing the historical meaning.
