Gasherbrum II 3D Terrain Map & Relief Model
Interactive digital elevation model (DEM) for Gasherbrum II. Tilt, rotate, and inspect high-altitude summit ridges, glacial cirques, and approach routes in high-resolution 3D WebGL cartography.
Established on the moraine of the South Gasherbrum Glacier near the junction of the Abruzzi and Gasherbrum glaciers.
Pitched on the upper snow plateau of the Gasherbrum Cwm after ascending a labyrinth of open crevasses and unstable seracs in the lower icefall.
Located on small snow platforms beneath the prominent curved, knife-edge mixed ice spur nicknamed the Banana Ridge.
Perched on the crest of the ridge above the technical mixed ground, offering panoramic views across the entire Baltoro glacier system.
Situated in a broad, wind-swept glacial amphitheater directly beneath the final summit pyramid in the Death Zone.
Reached via a steep 45-degree diagonal snow and mixed couloir breaking through the summit headwall to the highest point.
Total vertical rise from Base Camp (5,100m) directly to the summit crest.
DMS: 35Β°45β²30β³ N, 76Β°39β²12β³ E. Verified against alpine geodesy baselines.
The vertical drop to the lowest contour encircling the peak with no higher summit inside it.
Surrounded by lateral moraines, active icefalls, and high glaciated ridges feeding regional river systems.
Topographic Architecture of Gasherbrum II
Gasherbrum II, standing at 8,035 meters (26,362 ft), is the thirteenth-highest mountain on Earth and the third-highest peak of the Gasherbrum massif in the Karakoram. Located at the head of the Baltoro Glacier on the Pakistan-China frontier, it features a classic pyramidal profile with challenging ice couloirs. First summited in 1956 by an Austrian team, it was famously climbed in pure alpine style in 1982 by Reinhold Messner, Nazir Sabir, and Sher Khan.
